Purpose built retail building for Placemakers Kaiwharawhara. This Green Star 1,128m2 retail showroom was built next to the existing store which is fully operational throughout the build. It was constructed in two stages over two years from March 2018 – June 2020.
Stage 1 (Completed April 2019)
Scope of work:
- Show room
- Office space
- Mezzanine floor
- Kitchen and bathrooms
- Car-parking area
- New fencing and slide gate at the main entrance
- New fencing along railway line
- New signage
- New café cart area
- Lots of natural lighting with the use of sky lights and low energy LED lights
- Denka Floor slab
- Precast panels
- Polished concrete floors
Stage 2 (completed June 2020)
Demolition of the exiting trade and customer service centre and the timber yard. The new structure (2151m2) was connected to the new retail store giving it a new overall footprint of 5504m2 plus the landscaping yard.
A 20,000L water tank that captures all the run off water off the roof and is used for toilets, urinals and all hoses to water the garden centre

The old Placemakers store remained fully operational throughout construction.
