This high profile site received major renovation and structural restrengthening by ADC. It is located at 207 Vivian Street, at the end of Wellington’s Northern motorway.
This project required complete gutting of the building’s centre to accommodate office space and eight residential apartments. Refurbishment of the apartments included new joinery in the bathrooms and kitchens with modern tiling throughout. The three-level office space was completely refitted with six meeting rooms, four bathrooms and three kitchenettes. Spacious meeting rooms are fashioned from the old garage.
For comfort, new heating, air conditioning and lighting was installed throughout. All windows were replaced with new double glazed inserts, retaining the building’s historical 1950s character. A stunning glass canopy was fitted at the front entrance, as a design feature and to provide protection from the elements.
The office space is central to the building and was given an attractive fit out to accommodate Professional’s Wellington team.
ADC brought this building up to 100% of the seismic code by adding new structural steel throughout.
Special Information/ Challenges
Excavation involved removing concrete walls and non-compliant stairwells. Underpinning of the existing structure was required to increase the head height from 2.4m to 2.7m. A three-level block stairwell and elevator offer functionality, convenience and disabled access.
