Hutt Park Indoor Sports Centre
Lower Hutt
Hutt Indoor Sports Centre was designed to provide a new, commercially operated venue to cater for indoor cricket, netball, and football leagues, in addition to school holiday programs, school visits and other functions. It was intended for the thousands of people who work in the Hutt Valley area to enjoy.
The new 5000 square metre indoors sports complex includes 7 courts, a Junglerama, additional children’s play areas, a café and bar, office space and a viewing area for spectators.
Built in partnership with Hutt City Council this building is a 9m high structure on a timber piled foundation with a concrete floor, precast panels walls and a Kingspan roof.
The council provided the leased land and constructed the car parking and landscaping for the facility.
Architect Geoffrey Meyer said the centre incorporated natural ventilation and lighting to reduce running costs as well as insulation to control temperature in both winter and summer.
ADC was selected because of its proven track record in large scaled spanned spaces such as super markets and sports centres.
