Te Maru o Tawatawa
This complex includes 34 single-unit apartments across 3 multi-residential buildings built for those in need. The new homes have been designed with a community focus in mind, while maintaining privacy for tenants and neighbours. They will be fully insulated and are designed to maximise the sun, with each having an outdoor area along with some off street parking. The development included a shared space for tenants to use and landscaping such as planter boxes and fruit trees, will be used to maximise privacy and provide visual impact.

The construction was required to be fast to meet the programme deadline. To help the time constraint, ground works were poured to the ground which eliminated all form work and back filling.
The name of this community housing complex was created by the local school. Te Maru o Tawatawa means shelter or safeguard of Tawatawa which is the hill range that stretches from Mt Cook, past Berhampore to Island Bay.
