The requirement was for a new 20-bed, care and protection, residential centre. Facilities were required for residents with severe behavioural problems including 5 additional beds for at risk residents. Work also included excavation and landscaping as well as an indoor swimming pool along with changing rooms and showers.
Consideration had to be given to the special needs relating to mental health issues and suicide prevention, including significant security facilities such as alarms, fencing and ensuring that everything is accessible and visible.
To protect the safety and well-being of the residents special care was required including security and safety glass, a range of security fixtures and no sharp edges. Our client had to be confident that all facilities and fixtures were secure, robust and not able to be broken.
